How to Make a Protection Plan Claim

Making a Protection Plan Claim

If there is an accident with an RV rented on the RVnGO platform, please obtain the following:
  1. Date and time of incident,
  2. Location/Address where incident occurred,
  3. Police Report number and/or copy of the police report, if applicable,
  4. Photos of the damage, and
  5. A description of what happened leading to the incident.
In the electronic check out process, upload any photos and notes. If the RV was not returnable because of damage from the accident, please still complete the Check-Out form and note the fact the RV was not returned because of damage. At the bottom of the Check-Out form are instructions for filing a Protection Plan claim. 

To create a protection plan claim, go to the reservation and click on the Protection Plan accordion icon as shown below.

Step 1: Go to the reservation from your dashboard.


Step 2: Expand the Protection tab or accordion at the bottom of the reservation.



Step 3: Click the "File Protection Plan Request Button".


Complete the intake form as best as you can, including the following information to the best of your knowledge:
  1. Date of incident and location, 
  2. Before and after photos of the damages (in accordance with the 'Pre-trip Photo Guidelines' and 'Damage Photo Guidelines' in the Protection Plan Rules for Hosts,
  3. Description of what transpired,
  4. Extent of damage to the RV rental vehicle, and any other damage to other vehicles or property,
  5. Any injuries reported,
  6. Police report (if made),
  7. Witness information,
  8. Damage estimates you may have, and
  9. Any other information you think may be relevant.
Check back from time to time for updates on the status of your claim online under the protection plan tab for the reservation. When the status of your claim changes, you will also receive a notification from RVnGO that your claim status has been updated.

In the event a Host submits a reimbursement request for eligible exterior damage to a rented RV, RVnGO has the contractual right to charge Guests an initial reimbursement deposit in accordance with their Protection Plan, and will do so with the original payment method used for the rental.

Your Disclosure Obligations
You are making an insurance claim and in doing so you have the utmost obligation of making full and truthful disclosure, including not omitting facts that may be relevant to the claim. RVnGO does not cover damage to the vehicle that existed or occurred before or after the rental, we only cover the covered damages that occurred during the rental. Claiming damages that did not occur during the rental would be a breach of your duty of full and truthful disclosure. Failure to make full and truthful disclosure may constitute insurance fraud which may be a felony offense depending on the amount involved and/or the damage caused.

As you may appreciate, we do not have possession of the RV before the rental, so if you can not prove the damage did not exist before the rental with pre-existing photos of the claimed damage area, or there was undue delay in making the claim, your claim will be denied.


What is Not Covered
Please refer to the Protection Plan Rules for Hosts, 'Limitations on Coverage' for damages that are not covered by our Protection Plan, which include without limitation, the following:
  1. Damage that did not occur during the rental,
  2. Loss of use, 
  3. Normal wear and tear, like mechanical or electrical breakdowns, paint chips, flat/damaged tires and wheels or damage to the interior except in a covered accident or event,
  4. Windshield chips and damage except in a covered accident or event,
  5. Damage to the roof and attachments except in a covered accident or event, and
  6. Such other limitations in our coverage detailed in our Limitations on Coverage in our Protection Plan Rules for Hosts.
You may have recourse against the Guest if they caused damages that are not covered under our Protection Plan and the damage deposit they posted for the rental beyond normal wear and tear.
